I develop statistical methods for monitoring processes over time, from profile monitoring and control charts to robust semiparametric models, and apply them to public health, medicine, education and industry.
Since 2013 I have built my academic career at Qatar University, where I am Associate Professor of Statistics. Beyond teaching and research, I have helped shape how statistics is practised across the university: I coordinated the Statistics B.S. and M.S. programs (2015–2018), led the Statistical Consulting Unit (2014–2019) for more than 350 research clients, and headed the Student Data Management Section (2018–2023). Before that, as an Assistant Vice President at JPMorgan Chase & Co. in Columbus, Ohio (2011–2013), I developed economic-capital, forecasting and stress-testing models for mortgage and business banking risk. I trained at Cairo University’s Faculty of Economics and Political Science and at Virginia Tech (Ph.D. in Statistics, 2009), and I am an Affiliate Professor at Virginia Commonwealth University.
